Part of Your World (Bird is the Word Remix)
edge of the Ocean;
my cave, my home.
ceiling of barnacles, poisonous: they burn
and everything is black, black,
pitch black dullness—
Is the Ocean truly vast if you are contained?
scorpionfish guardians:
“there are sharks out there”
I touch my mouth – HARDEN;
my arms – LIGHTEN;
my size – SHRINK;
my fin – FEATHER.
Nourished; but I hate it here.
Nourished; but what does wind feel like?
Dear seaweed hair, coral teeth, and THE fin,
Let’s up the Evolution.
I wonder …
baby blue air caught in my feathers,
feels cool,
and the sun is beaming.
swoop
perching on an island,
CAW CAW
I have too much turmoil for this fish-muteness.
scream out and the entire Earth will vibrate.
will roost on every nook, sing —
Won’t be fooled. I know this planet is more than me.
A conversation; a dialogue,
I’m going to exchange my muteness
– poisonous as the barnacle –
be like the wise owl and create noise in the
black, black, pitch black.
